Side Note

A while back I felt God impress upon me that I would not leave until baby Emily was completely healed. This Monday she had a Doctor's appt. and the Dr. said she could come off oxygon completely, she did not need the feeding tube, and next week the apnia(sp?) monitor could be taken off. Meaning Emily is now completely well. So that all happened the very day before I got all my funds.

Birthday of Theatrical Proportions

I am still a bit in shock of what happened yesterday on my birthday at the mission's banquet during District Council. As my dad commented after the fact, "It felt like a dream." After we ate the guest speaker came up to speak and asked, "Where is Kristal Holtzclaw? Please stand up." So, I did, not knowing at all what was about to happen. He asked me how much more I needed to go to El Salvador. I replied that I need roughly $600 in monthly pledges. He said my church is going to support you $100 a month and I am sure there are other churches that will do the same. As he said that another Pastor raised his hand to pledge $100 so he said you are down to $400. Then another Pastor and another Paster. So he went all the way down until all I needed was $100 more and he said I am sure that there is another church that will pick up that last 100. So right then and there I was almost completely funded. It felt like my funds were actually being auctioned off right in front…

My Birthday

"You say it's your birthday
Well it's my birthday too--yeah
They say it's your birthday
Were going to have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy Birthday to ya." -Birthday by The Beatles

So I am a quarter of a century old today. I don't mind getting older. It is really funny because some people are like 25, that is still a baby. Then you have people like my brother who is like woah, you are old. A few years ago I did think 25 was old. I don't feel old, the number is just high. Five years ago I was turning 20 but in five more years I will be turning 30. I know this is common sense and kindergarten math but to sit down and ponder is a little weird for me. Especially since I feel the same way I did when I was 20. I feel the same but the number keeps increasing. What really strikes me odd is I can actually see myself changing, especially this past year. Things like my opinion on styles of clothes, music, and such. I am starting to learn…

Are Biofuels really the way to go?

"Plans to locate an ethanol plant in El Salvador, as part of a joint project with Brazil and the US. Although the plant planned for El Salvador will process sugar cane, US ethanol plans focus on the use of corn. This demand for corn for fuel is driving up the price of basic foodstuffs for the poor throughout the world, according to the International Monetary Fund." Whirlwind of a Week

This week has been quite busy, but tons of fun. It all started last Friday when I spent Easter weekend at the camp, on the Amite, with the family that I watch their children in the afternoons. We happened to have an Arctic blast come through last weekend but still had fun. Friday night we had a crawfish boil, Saturday we went riding on the boat, even though it was freezing and we all had about 10 layers of clothes on. We played Mexican train many times, and ate way too much food. This week was their Spring Break so during the holidays I watch Sydney and Tyler all day while their parent's work. This week was a bit different because their cousin from Califorinia came down to visit so we did lots of stuff with their family. Tuesday night we all went to eat at Boutin's, a cajun restaraunt that has live cajun music every night. Wednesday we went back out to the camp for a boat ride. The weather was fantastic and we were out on the water for about 4 hours. We started off on the Amit…

The pattern of my life, the puzzle that is me.

I was browsing over some of my older post and as I read "Call to Holiness" on 10-06. I feel, as though, I need to elaborate. I am in no way, shape, or form recanting what I said, however, I do feel holiness is more than not just doing things. Being pious does not mean we are holy. In fact, I will never be holy until I am with Jesus in Heaven. But I strive to become holy as He is Holy. I do think that believers need to stop associateing themselves so much with the world by supporting entertainment that is not pleasing to God. I also know that it is impossible, unless you are a hermit, to seperate yourself completely from the world's entertainment. If I said I never watch tv, I would be lying. I strive not to watch tv, and I do not agree with much that is on. But there are times, once in a while, when I will watch something like last night, I watched a documentary on Jim Jones, which put so much sorrow in my heart. I just believe that we need to be praying, studying, readi…

For the dreamers

Last night I had a dream that I saw my financial statement and I only needed one more $50.00 pledge. I hope that dream is prophetic. Please pray with me and believe that I will be leaving for El Salvador soon.

The Cross

Easter is one week from today and America has turned yet another holiday, that should be giving glory to God ,into a cosumer holiday. Easter egg hunts, buying candy, gifts, new clothes, crawfish boils, hanging out with family but that is NOT what it is about. Instead of spending your money on worthless stuff use the money you would spend and give to the poor, send it to a missionary, give it to your church. Easter should be the absolute most exciting time of the year because this is when we were given the chance to accept salvation and be accepted into the family of God. We should be reflecting on the cross and the resurrection. Jesus Christ did the unthinkable for you. In Deut. 21:23 it says ..."for anyone hanging on a tree is cursed by God." Galations 3:13 says, "Christ has rescued us from the CURSE pronounced by the law. When He was hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the CURSE for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, "Cursed is eve…
