To Live Will Be a Great Adventure

It is hard to believe I have lived outside of the United States for three years. I have one more year of my term left here in El Salvador. I have absolutely loved and enjoyed every second of my term. I am not sure what the next step for me is but I do know that it will be a great adventure with the Lord by my side. Within this year I am seeking for the Lord's direction as to what the next step is and I'm excited. Before I moved down here I was at the Deluge Festival in 2007 and God spoke to me saying, "El Salvador is just the beginning." I cling to that promise because I know that there are great things in store for those who follow the heart of God.

Supermarket Challenge

Some of my friends and I are being stirred by all the verses in the Bible that makes references to giving to the poor. We are tired of living in excess and hoarding our goods. It is time to stop talking and to make real changes in our lives. So the first thing I thought of was the next time we go to the grocery store before we check out put back all the stuff that we don't "really" need and mark how much it cost. With the money that we were going to spend on junk food or extra stuff we are going to give to local feeding programs here in El Salvador. So the next time I go grocery shopping I will post on how much I decided not to buy and how much is going to help buy food for malnourished children. I implore my readers to accept the supermarket challenge as well and I would love to hear the money that was saved and given to people who really need it.

What a Birthday

There is nothing worse than being sick on your birthday. Last Monday started my sickness and I'm still not feeling well. We thought it was a number of things the first being Dengue fever which is super common here. However, I forced myself to get a CBC and to test for dengue. The test for dengue came back negative but my results for the CBC clearly indicated something was wrong. I finally saw a Doctor today and he is pretty confident that I have Dengue regardless what the exam says. He said according to the CBC and my symptoms that I have Dengue. Now the worse has passed and I just need to recuperate.

Our Life is a Vapor

Yesterday evening I got on Facebook and saw this photo, which is my brother's truck. Needless to say, I panicked and immediately called my sister to find out if he was alright and what happened. She said my brother and his friend were driving down a dirt road and he hit a pot hole, fishtailed, and flipped. It is an absolute miracle that they both crawled out unscathed. God's hand and His angles were surrounding them. Even after I found out they were fine I was quite shaken up. We never know when our lives will be over and we need to be ready for whatever time the Lord decides to take us. Last night as I was praising and thanking God for protecting my brother I felt the Lord say to me, "You are praising me because your brother lives but if he would have died would you still be praising me?" No matter what the circumstance or what happens in this life we have to be faithful to praise God not because of the good or bad but because He loves us and He is good.

Till the Ground

Something is changing in the atmosphere the Lord is calling to a people who are willing for the ground to be tilled and to plant the seeds of righteousness. You can not deny that God is doing mighty things and our responsibility is to worship Him in spirit and truth and go where He leads us. Open your eyes and look around all over the world people are crying out for truth to set them free. God is moving and He wants you on board.
As leaders we join together and pray before the children program starts on Saturday. This morning we prayed for a girl named Karla who seems to be on the verge of death. We are not completely sure what is wrong with her but she seems to be having kidney failure and she is eleven years old. She was put in the hospital this past week and is starting dialysis. Sulma, the children's Pastor, asked me if I would lead the prayer as we interceded for her healing. What I did not realize until Karla was pointed out to me that two weeks prior God drew me…

Last week the check engine light started coming on in my truck. However, I am so busy and really need my vehicle to do all that I do that I couldn't bear to find the time to bring it in. At the beginning of this week I decided I really need to get it checked out. So on Monday I put it in the shop and they told me that it was going to take two to three days. So we are working on day 2 1/2 of being stuck in my apartment. I have been taking advantage of my free time and working on children's church material and translating devotions for the children's program manuel. But even better I have really taken much of my time to spend with the Lord. I have been reading digging into the word of God, and reading books by great men and women of God such as Corrie Ten Boom and A.W. Tozer, listening to anointed worship and just soaking in the presence of God. I must say being stranded in my house has turned into a time of refreshing in the Lord.

For This I Was Born

"For this I was born; born, born for this." These are lyrics from a song called Born For This off the new Flatfoot 56 album. I was listening to this song on the way to church and I knew the Lord was speaking to me through it. In the midst of failure, discouragement, lack of funds, or whatever, I was born for this. I was born to work in this country and reach the children of El Salvador. The Lord confirmed that in children's church as I was sharing and ministering to my group of girls. I was just sharing what God put on my heart and I looked into their eyes and many of them had tears pouring down their faces and God said to me once again, "For this you were born; born, born for this."

Dreams and Visions

Acts 2:17 ‘In the last days,’ God says,
‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions,
and your old men will dream dreams.
When reading this verse I have always assumed it was regarding believers. I do believe that God does and will continue to give dreams and visions to His followers. However, I just read a devotional from Voices of the Faithful with help from Beth Moore. It was a story of a gang member who had a very precise, distinct dream about a cross he found by the river and when He picked it up light shown down from Heaven and he danced in that light. He wanted to know what it meant and God sent a missionary to his doorstep and he accepted Christ along with many other gang members. This story opened my eyes that maybe in the last days it is the unbelievers who will have the dreams and the believers will be the ones God uses to help them understand. My prayer is that I am sensitive to …

Semana Santa/Easter Sunday

During Semana Santa last year I went to Guatemala and I was there this year during Semana Santa. This year I went with King's Castle and we were broken into different brigades. I went as a leader for the Guardian's of the Vision but they didn't have as many people go as expected so I they put me with a group of Master's Commission students. So it was different than what I expected but it was great. We worked all week long in the same church and it was so wonderful to be able to get to know the Pastor and his family and help and encourage the members of the church and reach people in that community. This morning we woke up early for the Sunrise service at 6:00 and the the youth and junior high students did the service in which they did The Passion. They did a really great job. The best part was when they went into the audience and started praying for people. There is nothing more awesome than worshipping the Lord and having adolescents and youth praying over you th…
