I Woke Up!!!

I'm reading a book called "Same Kind of Different As Me" by Ron Hall and Denver Moore and it is one of the best books I have ever read. I don't want to talk to much about the book because you need to go read it but here is an excerpt of just one of the parts of this book that has made me re-evaluate my life. "Here was a man whose life seemed disposable. Yet he found a reason to smile. Drawn to him, Deborah offered him a plate of home-cooked food and a prayer. Then, truly puzzled, she asked him, 'Why are you so happy?' 'I woke up' he replied, eyes twinkling in his haggard face, 'and that's reason enough to be happy!'
Deborah rushed home to tell me what he'd said, as though she'd been given a treasure that needed to be deposited immediately in my memory bank. From that day on, three words-'WE WOKE UP!'- were the first to come out of our mouths, a tiny prayer of thanksgiving for something we'd always taken for grant…

The Lord Knows Just What I Need

Yesterday morning was the Guardian's of the Vision Big Day Service: The Breath of Life. I don't know how many people remember Superbook but it was a Christian anime cartoon that came on when I was younger. We kind of based the drama off of that. A father and his two sons were searching for a treasure and came across a huge Bible and when they opened it they were sucked inside. The children reenacted the creation, the fall of man, different miracles, and Jesus dying on the cross. It was really cute and the kids did a great job. During the alter call I was taking pictures but I stopped for a moment to pray and at that moment many of the kids surrounded me and prayed for me. It was exactly what I needed. I felt so loved and so encouraged in that moment because my father knows exactly what I need and when I need it.

Things that Baffle Me Pt. 1

This may throw some of you for a loop but not everyone in the world has a dishwasher. I do not have a dishwasher. I wash my dishes and then sit them on a plastic dish rack to dry. I am baffled at how dirty the dish rack gets. Weekly, I have to actually put all my dishes away and clean the dish rack. How does that happen? What perplexes me is that I wash my dishes; so they are clean. All they have is water on them so how does the rack get so gross? I was going to put this as a facebook status however I felt like it needed more explanation than I care to put on my status, so I turned it into a blog post.

I rang in the new year with my missionary family and a team from the United States. I made cajun red beans and rice and everyone loved it. It was the first "cajun" food most of them ever had. Even my Salvadoran friends liked it however they thought it was a little to spicy. We did fireworks, bombs, mortars, firecrackers, sparklers, ect. for what seemed like hours. Around 10 we all gathered together and had a time of worship and prayer. Then it morphed into a testimony service. Everyone began sharing cool miracles and then we prayed for different team members who needed miracles in their body or life. The team also surrounded the missionary team and prayed for us and the ministry. It was a wonderful time with the Lord and a terrific way to bring in the New Year. Right before midnight we went on the roof to view the most spectacular firework show you could ever see. From the Triplett's house you can see over the city and literally in every direction there is noth…
