Children's Hospital Visit

Saturday we brought our youth group, ConeXion, to the National Children's Hospital.  We went to work with children who have cancer. First, we did a show for the children receiving chemo but who are not hospitalized.   We had clowns, songs, played games, balloons and prizes for them. It was such a blessing to receive two boxes full of school supplies from Amy McHolland because I was able to use some of the supplies to make gift bags for the children.

After the show we went to visit those who were hospitalized. We split into two groups so we could visit and pray for all the children in the cancer ward.  It was a very sad and sobering experience.  As one of the groups started to visit the children they were told that one of the children, whom they thought was sleeping, had just passed away.  The response of everyone was, "If we could have only got there a little earlier."  It hurt to see these children suffering and affected everyone.   Ruben and I were especially burden…

First Maternity Shoot

I did my first maternity shoot yesterday.  The subject is the mom of one of the girls in our youth group.   Here are some of my favorites.

We also wanted did not want to worry about school the next day and being able to go and hang out with the students after service. So with the help of our staff we made the decision to change the service to Friday night.  We decided on the name ConeXion (Connection) with the idea that the youth service is a place to disconnect from all t…

This past Friday was the annual National Youth Conference in which, every four years, there are elections for President, Vice President, ect.  Ruben and I are part of the volunteer staff that works with the National Youth Department Central Zone which includes all of San Salvador and Chalatenango. This youth conference is held once a year in which students come from all over the country come to take part.  There were between 5,000 and 6,000 people at the conference.  This conference was slightly different because of the elections.  Unfortunately, that took up most of the time and after the voting many people left.  I was excited because as a youth pastor's wife I was able to take part in the elections.  After the elections were said and done it was very late but another speaker was due to preach.  So at midnight Eddie Zaldaña preached and it was amazing. He did such a great job and the few hundred that stayed to hear him were definitely blessed.  Ruben and my part in all this …
